This design is not fit for purpose. The bag needs to be a string tied bag, not a metal zipped bag. The zip prevents you from full opening the bag, so you spill powder as you put it in the bag.
Think of how kava is made in Fiji. He has a piece of fine cloth that is wrapped around the kava and twisted at the top to hold the kava in. No zip. He not only immerses the kava in the water, but he also squeezes the bag repeatedly, in a kneading action. As there are saponins in kava, you should be seeing a bit of bubbling on the surface of the kava. He is not shaking the kava. That is why kava is made in a large open bowl. The metal zip in your bag gets in the way of freely squeezing the bag and will eventually corrode and jam.
